Saan lifts reactors for new phosphate factory over a track
On behalf of CTC Tankbouw, Koninklijke Saan relocated three very heavy reactors weighing 63, 30 and 20 tonnes and a 20-tonne stair tower with no less than 3 cranes at the RWZI (sewage treatment plant) in Amsterdam. The heavy reactors were lifted with two cranes working together.
The reactors arrived by pontoon for the construction of the biggest phosphate factory in the Netherlands. On the quay, a 220-tonne crane and a 150-tonne crane from Saan stood ready to place the reactors on a flatbed truck by working together. The flatbed truck was driven to the railway track on the site. A crane stood on each side of the track, on one side a 400 tonner and on the other a 220 tonner. Once again, the reactors had to be lifted over the track with 2 cranes working together and on the other side they were placed on a concrete foundation (plinth).
Trains were halted from 09.00 for this exceptional move. All 3 of the reactors and the stair tower were carefully lifted over the track and finally put down on the other side.
