From soap to four-poster beds in Hotel De l’Europe
- Bouwlogistiek
A large number of new hotels are being built and fitted out in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. And old office blocks are regularly being turned into hotels. In recent years Saan Relocation has profiled itself as a service provider of the logistics involved in this (re-) fitting out. Saan provided the clearing out and fitting out for the Hotel De l’Europe in Amsterdam.
Saan Suppliers of everything from soap to four-poster beds delivered their goods to Saan Relocation. Saan sorted and grouped all the goods by floor and room and delivered everything to the individual hotel rooms on calloff. There everything was unpacked, assembled and finished according to the client’s wishes. The packaging material was then removed in accordance with ISO 14001 guidelines.
Some of the furniture and fittings were stored for reuse but the majority of it was taken to an auction house. For the fitting out of the Hotel De l’Europe, all the goods were delivered, sorted and grouped centrally and then transported by Mokum Mariteam’s electric cargo boat.
With this project approach, Saan ensured that the installation of the goods was carried out efficiently in a very short time on each floor, with construction flows being only minimally held up. This of course saved time and money. The clearing out had to be done via the back of the hotel, on the waterfront, and Saan offered the correct and most efficient solution to this logistical problem. The goods were removed with an environmentally-friendly electric cargo boat from Mokum Mariteam, of which Saan is one of the founders. This also allowed CO2 emissions to be reduced.
The fitting out was only possible via the back, on the waterfront, so a large Saan mobile tower crane was used. This lifted goods over the Amstel Quay. Some of the goods were delivered to the crane by Saan relocation lorries. Saan traffic controllers were used here so that other traffic was disrupted as little as possible. In this way, the construction suffered no disruption at all as a result of the fitting out, so the various construction processes were able to progress at all times.
